And yes, eBay is really a good place for this kind of stuff.

I had never bought off of ebay, but, those cases are a good price
(which I didn't find easily on Amazon).

It's for a kid who drops the phone a LOT!

So it needs to be very tough.

Here's some good candidates for a rugged case. The only drawback to
them is that they are bulkier than a nice tight fitting case. And by
the way, the T-Mobile F3 cases and the Sprint/Virgin ones are not
interchangeable.

These 2 cases have a soft silicone inner case and a hard shell case
the snaps on over it. I have had good luck with this type of case when
I need a rugged case.

This case is the opposite, with a hard case the phone snaps into and a
soft silicone outer case. This is the same construction as the
Otterbox cases that are over $50.

If one of these doesn't protect, nothing will. I'd also put on screen
protector to prevent scratches and cracks.

I just bought this phone off eBay for $150. Wish I had bought it off Amazon or Walmart as suggested here. Although mine does work fine. It is a nice phone, but come with tons of bloatware on it. I was disappointed it could not be easily switched to a better ROM because t-mobile has"locked the bootloader". Still you can root it and install a program to disable the crap.. Costco guy told me today the F3 was newer and Berger because of LTE support. I just saw the small screen and choose the L9.
