Default Why do companies buy used cell phones?

I keep seeing ads on tv for companies that buy used cell phones. They
say they will even buy dead ones.
WHY? What do they use them for????????
Particularly when they seem to be obsolete when you buy them.....

Yes, on the one hand, they can recycle them, on the other - probably there are some materials in them which cost something, maybe for future recycling and producing the end product.

You are right. But that cell phone is not usable then why they buy this type of phone cells.
