Default PDA Data plan - No voice at all?

I thought I read here that a PDA data plan could also be used for
voice at per-minute rates and that you would not get any of the extra
voice features like voice mail, etc. And indeed, when I go thru the
online purchase of a xv6700 and select only a data plan there is a
note that says:

" * Data usage is within NationalAccess or BroadbandAccess Service
Area. Voice usage in the America's Choicesm Home Airtime Rate and
Coverage Area is $0.25 per minute. "

But two reps said there would be no voice call ability at all when
only selecting a PDA data plan. One rep said the note was in error.

So, is that all really true?

Think of yourself as an air-card. Some air-cards (originally all) had a
headset plug so you could use it for voice-calling. This would typically be
a data plan with pay-as-you go voice. So, if you sign-up your phone as an
air-card (not sure if they will let you), then you'll have the voice with
data option plan. Does that help? dr

Ooops: if you think of your phone as data-card, then you can sign up for a
data plan, and voice will be pay-as-you-go as you requested. Sorry for
saying it backwards, and hate to imply that you'd have figured it out.
Clear is better. dr

Note: The esn may be a give-away that you are not a data-card, but it should
work.

Hey now, it clearly says "Simulated Picture" so we're to realize they're
making it look much better than it really is.

Does Skype work on VZW's data link or do they try to block all those calls?

Anyone running Skype via VZW data?
