Default DCT4 Calculator 2.2 confusion

Hi group! having a bit of fun trying to work out how to unlock a 3510i
(Virgin network) using the above app. I've checked through the instructions
on http://www.unlocksmith.co.uk/ and read through the "DCT4FREE Guide.txt"
that comes with the app.
My confusion lies in the "Operator" part of the app. where I get the
impression that I should be entering an eight digit code (23400001 for UK
Virgin) but can only pick from a list. Should I be picking "T-Mobile / One
2 One / Virgin [23430]" ? I've actually tried this once but the phone comes
up with "wrong code". Any takers??? TIA.

I don't think Virgin 3510is can be unlocked using the free software.

You have to use the DCT4FREE.EXE enclosed in the package.
Read the text file.
I've tried to make the guide say it doesn't work in 2.2, to the best I
can...

Here's an example on how to generate an EXTENDED 3510i Virgin V2 calculated
code:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----

DCT4FREE 2 123456789012345 23400001 33820

#pw+105914132321010+1#

[NOTE: The DataONE Calculator with the latest firmware can also generate
3510i V2 Virgin codes!]

Just run this line in a dos prompt, whe
123456789012345 is IMEI
23400001 is operator (used with Virgin 3510i)
33820 is the Serial Box that forces program to generate V2 codes instead of
V1 codes

Ie this above information would generate this unlock key, if this was your
data...
#pw+105914132321010+1#

Because you have a different imei it will be a different code:
#pw+???????????????+1#

Thanks, you can probably tell I'm new to this but I'm familliar enough with
dos to use Dct4free, and this is all entered into the phone with the sim
removed, right?
Out of intrest, what happens when your five attempts at unlocking the
phone are up?

Try it though, have nothing to lose...
Be interested to know what it says...
If is a problem, 3510i is easily unlocked on a clip, so just find a market
to do it for you - only will cost 10 now!

Ok, big thanks to all, especially The Mole for writing the app. I finally
got there, Orange card in the Virgin phone works a treat. Thanks again!
