Default Simplest phone to replace Nokia 6340?

I've been notified by my carrier (AT&T) that older 2G GSM cell phones
will stop working by the end of the year due to "upgrades" on their
wireless system. I still use an old (ancient?) Nokia 6340 which suits
my needs perfectly. I don't need or want internet access, texting,
or a camera - just a phone to make and receive calls.

Unfortunately it looks like AT&T does not offer any simple phones, just
smart phones that I don't want. I have not looked at cell phones in a
very long time. What would be something very basic but newer that will
work with AT&T's coming network changes? (I am not averse to picking up
an unlocked used phone on ebay or wherever rather than new.)

I recommend the Huawei U2800A. It's a small candy bar style phone and fine
for sending and receiving phone calls and SMS texts on ATT. Can be charged

Thanks, I did a quick web search and that looks like a nice basic phone.
In looking around I've also found the ZTE Z222 which seems like it would do
the trick. It looks like both these phones are available inexpensively as
AT&T pre-paid "Go Phones" - will those also work with my existing AT&T
account if I install my SIM card, or will I need to look for a phone that's
been unlocked?

As I said I don't need much from a phone. Things that would be desireable
would be a removeable/replaceable battery, ability to work with a standard
plug-in hands-free set, and a belt clip or case.

The two Huawei U2800A phones I use came in GO Phone boxes and accepted SIMs
of H2O (a mobile virtual network operator that uses ATT towers) and also
SIMs from Orange of UK. So those phones come unlocked, whether the sellers
know it or not.

Nice - they're cheap enough at places like Target and Wal-Mart that I'll
pick one up and give it a try. (Also easy returns at those places if it
doesn't work for any reason.) Also looks like accessories for the Huawei
are inexpensive and easy to come by.

Default Simplest phone to replace Nokia 6340?

I went ahead and ordered a Huawei U2800A phone. (Was unable to find one
in local stores. I think it may have been recently discontinued.)

One thing I'm trying to figure out is what kind of hands-free headset
to purchase for this phone. It uses a 3.5mm connector, but I can't find
whether it uses a 3 or 4 conductor plug. (Most of the 3.5mm headsets
I'm finding are 4 conductor. The 2.5mm type, which I've been using with
a Nokia adapter, are 3 conductor.) I downloaded the user manual for the
phone but it does not seem to specify this. Anyone know?

Reading the manual http://www.brandsmartusa.com/pdfs/manuals/20172212.pdf
it's my reading that for this "headset" is a simple monophonic earpiece with
just two conductors - ring and tip - is all that is needed such as this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009VT2I/

I have that manual. It talks, for example, about a headset auto-answer
function (page 8) which implies it takes a headset with microphone.
Of course it might be that this phone uses a simple earphone for the
receiver and its built-in mic for transmitter, as it would for the
speakerphone. But then on page 14 the manual talks about a TTY function
using the headset jack for both transmit and received. This may mean
two circuits on the jack which of course would be 3 or 4 conductors.

I guess I could just try an inexpensive headset of each type and
see what works. (Actually I already have some mono earphones around
from transistor radios.) It's odd that the manual doesn't really
specify what's needed.
