get a cheap calling card and call the number from a pay phone. the
person won't be able to trace the call through caller ID, and either
someone will pick up, or you'll hear voicemail. I've done it before,
and I got my answer

number that I dont know saying *I'm here* @1:18am...I tried every
reverse cell number look up possible but they all want credit cards or
checks...is there any real free cell phone number look ups out there, I
read all the posts here and so far they all want money. I would use our
credit card to look it up but the husband has it any help is
appreciated. Also...Trac phones...if the number is listed to a trac
phone will it come up?

Thank you

Guys, please be aware that this is a newsgroup thread that is more than
2 years old.

You're not going to find a reverse cell phone lookup service for free.
Expect to pay $50 - $80 for that. However, you can find simple things,
such as land lines and area codes with 'whitepages.com'
(http://tinyurl.com/nruh7) for free.

Hey! It could have been a wrong number. I've gotten text messages that
were not meant for me (or anyone I know). People do key in wrong numbers,
especially at 1am, after a long flight or trip.

Glad we were able to help, guys! This is exactly the type of
good-will & cooperation that I think will endear others to continue to
come to this forum and make it flourish even more than it already has!
I only noticed today that the first question was posed a few years ago
-- and it appears we're still going over the same issue. I figure
that's a good thing, a sign of continued interest!

Anyway, I've started a new website devoted to answering the question of
"which online investigation service is best"? I know that's a broad and
relatively subjective question, but it considers those sites designed to
provide '*online background searches*, *skip tracing*, *reverse phone
lookup*' (http://www.best-detective.com)*, and the like.

I'd everyone's input (especially if our forum moderators could help
with this, perhaps with surveys ) as I'm still in the evaluation
stage; though I've done a considerable amount of research myself (it's
a lot of fun), I would like it to be as representative as possible of
others' personal experiences as well.

So, if you'd like to start jotting down a couple impressions and
passing them on via this forum/ thread, I'd appreciate it and I think
whoever asks this question next (and I'm sure there will be others),
this will be a resource that can help expand on all the criteria that
seem important to us.

The new site is he http://www.best-detective.com. Look forward to
developing this work with contributions from all of you soon. And, an
extra thanks to all of those who provide a caring and productive forum
for addressing important questions such as these! As we've seen in
this thread alone, they are _very_much_appreciated_!

* i would have included another site that's devoted to '*cell phone
reverse lookup*' (http://www.cell-phone-usa.com) (mainly because it
does these for free), but it doesn't cover as many other services as
the detective sites discussed above.

I can offer you a free reverse directory for mobile numbers, to find out who owns a phone number. You only need to enter this number and tell you to close behind and also the name of the telephone company:
