What is the point of calling the Logical link control and adaptation protocol L2CAP? Why not just call it LLCAP?

Lots of people refer to the Inter-Integrated Circuit protocol as
I squared C or I2C. There were even people who referred to T
squared L instead of TTL.

I think it's an academic witticism (of sorts). If you put a string
of letters together, and interpret them as an algebraic expression,
it represents multiplying them all together; hence I squared in IIC,
T squared in TTL, and L squared in LLCAP.
