Default 3G Verizon-Alltell What can I expect

Hi,

I've been Alltel for many years. I live very rural and have
NO HI - SPEED internet options except for satellite.

Verizon sent me a letter indicating how swell things were going to be.
That's fine. I want to know what these plans include and naturally all
they will offer is "It's going to be swell!"

Is there a trade site or any site that covers the wireless 3G scene
were I can go and actually read what is in the works?

Thanks,

Sam

I came from Verizon a few years back, the most dispicable sellphone
company on the planet. I got tired of being constantly lied to. Go
figure....

Alltel has been wonderful, in comparison. I have a regional plan, SC-NC
and the border states around them which kept getting bigger. First
thing the merger lost was REGIONAL service with lots of minutes. It's
already GONE. Everyone on Verizon is forced to buy nationwide minutes
they seldom, some never, use....expensive nationwide minutes.

Things Alltel customers enjoy Verizon's Swell System doesn't have:

MYCIRCLE - Verizon only lets them talk to Verizon customers, not
everyone. Expect MYCIRCLE to be history, very soon.

UNLIMITED INTERNET - I use 25-30GB/month and NOONE at Alltel complains,
ever, for $25/month bluetooth tethered through my Motorola Z6m
sellphone. Verizon doesn't like tethering for cheap when it wants to
sell you a $60/month aircard account that ONLY INCLUDES 5GB....and
charges $0.25/MEGAbyte over 5GB! That's $250/GB over 5GB! Expect to
lose direct connect or bluetooth tethered internet for $10 (smartphones)
or $25 (plain BT phones that tether like Motorola Z6m). It'll be
history, too.

Alltel's N/W starts at 7PM for peanuts. Verizon has none at 7PM. Plan
on losing that, too.

We...or maybe just you....will soon be assimilated by the Borg.
Resistance is futile. Bend over! VERIZON'S COMING!

Plan on being lied to about everything's going to be "swell".....Yeah,
****!

All I can tell you is that I also live in an area where the only game is the
wireless PC card. KYC650.

I have always had some dropped connections but last February it went over the
edge.

Ran pretty well until January of this year and then went bonkers and I mean
bonkers. Took me two hours one Sunday night to do a bank transfer that had to
be done by the next morning.

Trouble has been that Alltel leases time on Sprint towers.

When Verizon took over, they changed the system to look for an Alltel tower
first, a Verizon tower next and if no go, Sprint.

That requires a new PRL.

I complained. They assigned me a new PRL and it has not missed one second since
Friday at 6:00PM.

So if you have been working through a Sprint tower and they switch you through
one of their own, you will be better off.

Beyond that, no one knows anything. An Alltel employee knows no more than you
do.

OUCH!!!

That just ruined my day.

The first time they raise me one nickle, I will go to AT&T even if it is worse
just to give them the bronx cheer.

I have been with Alltel since 1984 when it was called Centel around here.

Oops...Sorry Mr Claude. I was told they would honor my current contract
until its end, my 2-state regional service. That was what Alltel told
me.

I pointedly asked Verizon's local management I trapped on the sales
floor at the main Charleston store about my unlimited internet service
for $25. I was told my internet service was an "add on" feature and NOT
part of my current contract and that it may be eliminated at any time.
I asked what about other features I pay extra for and was told all extra
pay features were not part of my base contract and COULD, but not
necessarily WOULD, be changed at any time, even before my contract ends.
This came from as high up in Verizon as we have in Charleston, right at
the main store.....

Now, whether that is the TRUTH, or just GOSPEL, remains unseen....as is
usual with dispicable Verizon.

Those investment company clowns that did this to us should be fed to the
alligators! How awful the damned FCC just sits on its ass and allows
everything to be absorbed into one big MONOPOLY, once again, like the
old Ma Bell.....

Alltel was 360 Communications in Charleston.....after it was some other
company I've forgotten the name of before that. Verizon was GTE
Cellular after it was Cellular One after it was Cellular One of
Charleston, Inc.

Cellular One of Charleston was the best. Customer lounge with cable TV,
coffee, donuts in the morning...nice couches to SIT on, friendly people,
competent installers (car phones) and technicians, management rapidly
responded to ever customer.......all 24 of us when I came aboard! GTE
was the end of it. Hell, they didn't even want you sitting down while
you waited for your phone to be fixed at GTE/Verizon....took away even
the cheap plastic chairs.

Speculation. Nothing but pure speculation.

UNLIMITED INTERNET - I use 25-30GB/month and NOONE at Alltel complains,
ever, for $25/month bluetooth tethered through my Motorola Z6m
sellphone. Verizon doesn't like tethering for cheap when it wants to

history, too.

Guess what. Alltel no longer has $25 tethering for regular phones or
$10 tethering for smartphones. Now it's $30 for ANY phone - although
it's still unlimited use. What Verizon will do is again SPECULATION.

Alltel's N/W starts at 7PM for peanuts. Verizon has none at 7PM. Plan
on losing that, too.

Agan, SPECULATION.
