Default UNKNOWN is showing up on my Caller-ID. I don't want it.

Hi,

I don't want my phone to show "unknown" callers.
Does anyone know if there's away, for cingular customers to prevent
those calls from coming through?

Also, when is Cingular going to make their web site secure?

I refuse to register online, with my phone number, when the web page
is: http:// versus https://

Also, I look for the little golden lock, in the lower-right corner of
the browser, so I know it's a secure site. That is not the case with
the Cingular site.

There's nothing you can do about it. Cingular doesn't offer any way to
programatically screen those calls and divert them somewhere else. It
would be great of they did.

There's no reason a phone couldn't ignore a call with no caller ID
info or allow you to assign a special ringtone, but I don't know
of any phones that allow those options.

Try just adding the "s" after "http" to see if they have a secure server.
I've done that sometimes, but I don't remember about Cingular.

I plan on switching to Verizon when my TDMA service finally is shut down. I
have Verizon for everything else, and they seem more considerate of privacy
issues. And, since I rarely roam, I can use virtually any wireless carrier,
as long as they cover my home city.

There is a certain degree of arrogance that Cingulas has been displaying
toward former ATTWS customers that I find unacceptable. Maybe I'm being too
critical, but it's my money, and I'll give my business to companies that
don't act as if they own me.

Screw Cingular!
