Default Kyocera 7135 - disable phone, keep as PDA

Does anyone know how to disable the phone on the Kyocera 7135? I
received the dreaded "Service required. Contact provider." message and
would like to keep the device as a PDA. However, everytime I place it
on the cradle (or plug in just the power cord) the device tries to
power-up the phone.

Assume you have tried an extended turn off. Pull the battery out, and hold
the rest for a full minute, and then turn it back on. Surprisingly it has
worked almost always for me. Of course any info on your phone will be gone.

I think the phone part has a setting for auto-power on the phone, just set
that to no. If I was on a long international flight.... phone is off....
would plug in an external charger, and the phone would not go on. So I'm
fairly confident it is in the phone settings... autopower something. dr

dr.news,
Thanks for the response. I have that a try, but when I turned the phone
off, put in in the cradle, after about 15 seconds, I'll get a "Powering
on ..." message. Since the cell network is disabled, it never completes
that process. The downside is that it sucks the battery down when doing
this as well.

I talked with Kyocera's support and they said that a hack existed, but
they weren't allowed to tell it to me. Suggested I search the internet.
No luck yet.
