Not exactly. If you don't want to pay the full price of a smartphone upfront
(and few do), Verizon will allow you to sign an agreement that says you will
pay for your device in 24 monthly installments. That is essentially another
Nobody "wants" to pay for a phone at all, but unless you are flat
broke or challenged by economics would you take the subsidized phone
route for service. And with many carriers you still don't need to pay
up front. They'll charge a down payment and the monthly payments at 0%
interest, which you can get out of by simply paying the balance. You
can avoid that contract by just buying the phone outright. With your
$90-200K income you should be able to afford that.
