blocking the 999 number

Can anyone tell me if the 999 number can be blocked on an 3310 or a 6310 I
lock my keys but still find I sometimes dial this number if I leave my
phone in my pocket, is there anyway to block all the keys at once, or just
the 999 combination. (I know it's a safety feature but it's one I can do
without as I can alsways use an alternative)

No. I'm afraid that the safety aspect (as you mentioned) is more
important. Later Nokia models are more fussy about how they react
to it: you have to type exactly '999dial' with nothing in between
before they react to it.

Be aware that the phone reacts to 112 and 911 similarly.

Unfortunately, no.

I have done this on a couple of occasions and it is most annoying, not
least to the emergency services, but AFAIK it can't be done.

911 doesn't do anything on my phone when the keypad is locked. Only 999 &
112 is dialable on my current (8310) and previous 3310, 5110, 402, & 1611
Nokia phones.

UK emergency services phone number. In the same way that the USA uses 911,
and much of Europe uses 112.
